Biopsy Results

It’s been nearly 3 weeks since I had a core breast biopsy and needle lymph node biopsy. I was told by the hospital that the results of the lymph node biopsy was ‘sitting on the fence’ and the results of the breast biopsy didn’t show anything. I now have to go for another biopsy on both the lymph nodes and breast. Another 3 weeks of waiting!!!! Prior to biopsy, the hospital informed me it was 95% cancer, so I am extremely anxious regardless of the extra waiting time I will now have to endure. Anyone any advice?

  • Hi , sorry you’re having to endure more tests and more waiting. It’s truly tortuous, living in a horrible limbo, but sadly they need all the information to make the best plan for treatment. That doesn’t make the waiting any less painful though. All I can really advise is to keep busy, and try not to dwell on the what ifs as it’s unknown at the moment. I knew mine was cancer after the initial consultation and biopsies as the doctor simply said she was sure it was, from the mammogram and ultrasound. So I began to get used to the idea that I had cancer, but obviously at that stage knew very little about the likely treatment. It was definitely ‘better’ once I had the biopsy results and knew the next step at least, which for me was a lumpectomy and node sampling.

Wishing you well and sending a big virtual hug your way, somehow these days will pass and you’ll get started on whatever treatment you may need, love and hugs, HFxx
