Covid and radiation rash

Hello all, not been on here for a while, but been popping in the last couple of days! I am wondering whether anyone has experienced the same as me. I had covid for 10 days and on about the fourth day I noticed my operated on breast felt as though it had a strain. I did have vomitting and diarrhea and thought I had strained myself. Then the radiation rash and itch started to come back and now 12 days later it's driving me bonkers again! Don't get me wrong, it's not as bad as after the radiotherapy in January, but it's that itch deep down in the breast that no cream will touch. I also have a red mottled rash again. So, has anyone else experienced this with covid I wonder?

  • Hi Gazeebo

Sorry to hear that you had covid. While I didn’t get a rash or an itch in my operated breast when I had covid I noticed that you haven’t had any answers yet so I thought I’d reply to you. Hopefully someone with, the experience will be along soon to answer your question.

I hope the rash and the itch go away soon.

    Best wishes

  • Hi Gazeebo

ive not yet had covid so sorry I can’t answer. But I do have a query ive just finished radium last week. And a couple of days ago I have a lumpy rash like spots on my cleavage. It looks quite red and is very itchy is this what you experienced. I do have an appointment next week with oncologist so was going to ask her x

  • It's normal to get a rash, so don't worry, but do ask about it. I used a natural moisturiser and aloe vera gel to help calm mine. I finished in January and have had a 10p size on the odd occasion which has come up if I have walked in the sun, even with sun cream and covered up, but wasn't expecting the full rash again so many months later! Just get yourself a good natural moisturiser and apply it every day.

  • Ah thank you I have some aloe gel now and put it in last two days mine are more like angry red spots lumps. . Just  in crease of cleavage.

Although my underarm where sentinel node removed is also looking angry. Not hurting just looking bruised and brown since radium.
    oh the fun

hope you get answers soon about your rash x

I had covid a month ago and got Uticarea (a hive based rash that then spreads). It was hugely itchy so I was given a very strong prescribed antihistamine tablet and steroid cream.

I start radiotherapy tomorrow and they have warned me that it will probably come back during treatment . It was very distressing due to the itch

    i hope this is helpful

  • Good that you have something to soothe it. Hope all goes well. X

  • Oohwee Irishgirl, that looks annoying. I actually took antihistamines for my radiotherapy rash! I think they helped, but couldn't swear to it. Wishing you all the best with your treatment and hope your rash isn't too bad. X
