Kadcyla?

didn’t have the best of days yesterday

my oncologist gave me my results from lumpectomy.

16mm of residual cancer (live) cells found in the breast tumour tissue and 4mm in 1 out of 6 lymph nodes dissected.

So have to come off the planned Phesgo injections and start IV Kadcyla every 3 weeks for 14 doses, my poor veins…..!!Grimacing

Will start radiotherapy in August and they will target breast and all remaining axilla lymph nodes. And I start Letrozole now for 10 years.

Apparently only 61% of patients have a complete response to my TCHP pre surgery and 39% go on to need Kadcyla.

Not the news I was hoping for!

Ladies who have or are having Kadcyla how did that go? xx

  • Hi just wanted to reply and give you reassurance. This sounds like me except the lymph nodes. I had 95% response to chemo, rest was residual cells left. Following surgery I had 5 radio to full breast then 5 targeted radio to surgical site. I was on kadcyla during radio too.
I finished my kadcyla on 8th June there !! It wasn’t too bad, just tiredness as cycles went on. Neuropathy to feet was my worst symptom so they reduced kadcyla by 20% on 4th cycle and continued on that. It felt strange after my last one. I didn’t whoop about the place. I still have to get 3 further infusions for bones but they are 6 months apart I’m ER positive too. I went back to work January as a nurse this year, retired in May and returning to same job reduced hours this august. I did not like idea of starting this either but as long as your ok on it, just look at it’s another blast that’s going to further make you better and focus on something when it’s finished. I’m just back from Ibiza ( too hot lol ). I’m going to a wedding in Cyprus in September, you will be on this side very soon. Take care and hope this has given you some help x

  • Thank you really helpful reply xx

  • Hi my tumour didn’t shrink enough with chemo so had surgery , then radiotherapy along side Kadcyla ( 5 left ) and hormone therapy x

  • Hi Dawnlou I remember chatting to you when we started chemo, I am grade 2 her2 positive er/pr positive, mine was 20mm and lymph nodes clear. I had surgery first then 3 x ec 9 x paclitaxel with herceptin, then radiotherapy and now on hormone meds. How has your treatment gone. How much residual did you have left after surgery, a partial response is good. Best wishes xx

  • Hi hope you are well . I’m ok not coping to well on the Kadcyla though and hot flushes are driving me insane .

I’m not sure on residual ? All I know is chemo didn’t clear tumour there was about 50% left but I had to have gaps in treatment and reductions due to toxins , and then was just told  got clear margins after surgery , how have you been ?

  • Hi I have finished active treatment now, 3 x ec 9 x paclitaxel with 6 months herceptin 2 surgery's, 2nd one was to remove dcis, and radiotherapy. On hormone meds now. Only just finished radiotherapy so still off work at the moment, my home town is birmingham so while off going to catch some off the commonwealth games, and enjoy the buzz around at the moment. What hormone meds are you on, how are you finding them xx
