Hi All
today I completed by 4th cycle of EC Chemo and I have used a Cold cap each time. It has worked for me and I haven’t lost hardly any hair (it is quite thick to start with) but I am due next cycle to change to Paclitaxel. The treatment time is a lot longer and with the cap it means I’d be plugged in for 6.5hrs+
i don’t think I can do it for that long. I only just about cope with the cap now for 3/4hrs and counting down the clock to get it off.
has anyone been in the same boat?
is Paclitaxel as tough, If I stop the cap now will all my hair fall out?
any advice would be most welcome
thank you x
I don't know if your hair would fall out with paclitaxel - it is one of the side effects, but I think it is less harsh on your follicles. If you have kept most of your hair and could cold cap, you might even see your hair begin growing again and need a haircut! I managed with heat pads and I used to take in a hot water bottle to sit on my lap and I took in a thick coat to put over my knees. If you are chilly they have things to help. The other thing is that once your chemo premeds go in, you will be drowsy and probably sleep on and off through the whole thing so it won't feel like 5 hours. x
My hair fell out on my birthday, when I had EC, exactly 14 days after the treatment.
