Hi everyone, i am new to this site. I start radiotherapy for 5 days commencing on the 11th July. I had my CT planning scan week ago and was duly tattoed ! I wasnt asked to do breathing technique yet have read peoples experiences of this And i am now afraid that the marks will not be in the correct place
The marks will be fine and in the right place. Your position is checked really thoroughly at every single radiotherapy treatment session. They are just so careful with you and make sure that they get it right. You only need the breathing technique for radiation on the left side of your chest. They will show you what to do if you need to practice this. Good luck for your radiotherapy treatment and try not to worry - it will be OK x
Zephyr - thank you so much for your response
my cancer was right side so thats really good to know and has certainly allayed my fears.
I have just finished 15 sessions and you are right they check all measurements every time. If you were holding your breath this would be practised at planning scan.
I had right side but as doing all chest wall I had to do the holding breath technique too. If you can't hold it for the time the machine cuts out and you go again. I always got to thinking I have to breath and said breath normally so all good
Good luck they are so kind x
