Breast cancer and bone mets. How long can we live with cancer in the bones? Pain relief and help with it ?

  • Sorry I don't have any experience of this but there are plenty of ladies on this forum living with stage 4 cancer for many years.  There is a secondary group which I'll link you to and hopefully you'll get support from ladies in same situation.

  • Well. I had chemo with a lady who had bone mets and was doing very well indeed 5 years after her diagnosis, treatment every 3 weeks, working full time, you’d never have known to look at her and I found this inspirational and comforting in a weird way. Her regime was keeping her cancer at bay and she could continue like that for some years. The true answer is nobody knows but hopefully you will have a similar experience. I’m sure some of the others in your situation will respond too. All the very best xx

  • Hi Casput! Sorry you’re having such a rubbish time of it. I’ve not personally had experience of what you describe, however I was chatting in the chemo  waiting room to a man whose wife had bone mets from BC and had been living with it for 10 years! Apparently they could not cure it, but they’d managed to stop it from becoming more advanced. In his words, “she’s living with it and although it’s still there, they’ve stopped it moving” I don’t know what treatment she received (didn’t want to be nosey), but there’s obviously hope! Fingers crossed. Also was speaking to a chap today who had mets in his hip bones from prostatic cancer and he’s receiving weekly radiotherapy and they’re hopeful for him. So stay positive and hope for the best. Lots of love xxx
