I am due to start treatment with TDM1 in two weeks and wondered how severe side effects might be. Thank you
Hi I just had my last one 2 days ago. 14 of them.
wasn’t too bad , just got very fed up near end. My side effects were not severe, more annoying. I had nose bleed on and off at day 3/4. I always felt cold after my infusion so always went to nice warm bed straight after each one and watched TV etc. slight constipation, very small sores at sides of mouth for couple day, fingers sore for couple days , and neuropathy in feet which caused hot painful feet in bed. I bought a cool pad and placed my feet on it when in bed. Hopefully you will sail through it but don’t fret if you get any because they can adjust your dose etc. good luck x
Hi, I wrote this during treatment, about a year ago now, and it's everything I wish I'd known before chemo. Hope it helps and good luck
Im new to the grouo and see you had 14 cycles - were you given any reasons? Sorry to ask but ive had 6 cycles of chemo which was very positive on the tumor was continuing with phesgo injections then lumpectomy was waiting for final results when they hit me with having to have a further 14 cycles of chemo - bit of a shock to be told i have to have so many more.
5mm removed on surgery with 15 lymph nodes removed- 13x clear 1 x scar tissue 1 x 0.2mm tumor
I understand it might be precautionary but 14 seems a high number
Hi Aunty J
it wasn’t precautionary for me. I was told I needed TDM1 as there were some residual cells found at pathology report. My neoadjuvent chemo worked 95% which they said was excellent. But had to have the TDM1 which , the chemo part of it carries the herceptin to any remaining rogue cells. Ask your breast nurse why the 14 but I think that’s just the prescription for everyone though there are a few who can’t manage the 14 but still benefit from what they manage. Good luck x
