Hi
I had a reconstruction and augmentation a 6 weeks ago. I developed a terrible rash at both incision sites and the implant became infected. I had IV antibiotic treatment and that cleared up the rash. The breast surgeon though it could be a reaction to the tamoxifen.
Has anyone else experience anything similar?
I’m not sure whether it could have been the brand, or something else completely.
I’m currently not taking tamoxifen, and need to decide whether I want to try it again, have zolidex injections and letrozole or ovary removal and letrozole. My preference would be to try tamoxifen but would appreciate your thoughts, and also recommendations of brands. Foolishly I threw my old pack of tamoxifen away and now can’t remember the brand name. It began with ‘My’ I think? Bloomin brain fog!!!
All insights greatly appreciated. Thank you Xxx
Hi Loubelou if the rash was at the incesion sites might it be the plasters that they would have put over the incisions that you reacted to. I remember having really bad itching which improved once the plasters came off although part of the itching was a result of the healing.
Even if it was tamoxifen that caused it given the infection was at the incision sites maybe now that the incision sites have healed it won't happen again.
