Finally got confirmation of this lump in my breast after referral to Marsden. Appears I have a 10cm sarcoma in my left breast. Bone scan clear and CT scan clear so that's good. Met with consultant today and having mastectomy on Monday at royal Marsden Sutton.what a whirlwind .found lump end of march.biopsy and mamogram April 12th.results may3rd toss up between sarcoma.metaplastic carcinoma and phylode tumour .reason for second opinion. MRI ,bone scan and CT scan done while waiting 3 weeks for appt. At least I know who the enemy is and that they are not anywhere else for now. I'm very lucky that mastectomy quick and being done by specialist.hopefully can remove it all and won't need radiotherapy.waiting itself for whatever reason is the worst.

  • I had a right mastectomy in January and has healed brilliant, I didn’t have reconstruction and have got along really well with my softie then silicone insert, can’t even tell I’m missing a boob! If I can give you some advice it would be, use a little heart shape pillow under your arm ( I was given one) do your exercises even when feeling sore, and use bio oil ( when allowed) this is great with scarring but helped to keep my skin supple too, you’ve got this, take care & speedy recovery xx

  • Thank you so much for replying to my post. I will take your advice on board .I too won't have reconstruction for at least 2years as it is a sarcoma. Not that it worries me. I just want this thing gone. I have small boobs so won't be much difference .take care and hope you continue your recovery too

  • I had a mastectomy too and feel very much like Halley about it - just relieved the cancer was removed. I hope your specialist surgery goes really well for you and that you recover quickly xx

  • All the best for your surgery on Monday. I'm glad you have found a specialist who will help.
