Hi, new to the site. I'm 42 diagnosed Invasive DCIS in October 21. ER + HER2 - Wide local excision and sentinel node biopsy. 2nd surgery performed as margins weren't clear and micro mets in 1 node. I'm in the middle of radiotherapy now and had started on Tamoxifen for just under a month. However, I was having minor spotting. Went to GP and I've now been reffered to Gynae because she found a polyp coming through Fingers crossedmy cervix. Read all about Tamoxifen and the impact of the Oestrogen to the uterus, increase in Ovarian cancer, polyps etc. So I stopped my tablets. Yet to tell my Oncologist. Now I'm bleeding constantly Has anybody just stopped their tablets and had what seems to be withdrawal bleeding? Even having cramps. I'm sure I've just messed my body up with stopping. My period was only 2 weeks ago and boy was it Fingers crossedheavy. I'm sure it'll sort itself out and the polyp will be fine. I'm really in two minds now about whether to just put the meds in the bin altogether once this is sorted Thinking

  • Not sure where the fingers crossed emoji's have come from. Did say I was new Joy

  • Hi, I haven’t had this experience but I'd suggest you talk to your oncologist about stopping the tablets and ask their advice on the bleeding and in the long term pros and cons of tamoxifen.  Good luck

  • IT sounds as though you should call your BCN today if you can. If your periods are back and its not the polyp alone, they might well put you on zoladex or prostap to block your ovarian function if you aren't on it already. I'd definitely chat to the team about tamoxifen, periods, polyps etc. I hope it all settles down for you.
