Hi there, I wonder if anyone on this group can say a little about their experiences of bisphosphonates and any tips you can offer or common side effects to be ready for please?

  • Hi, I have been taking it for 3 months, with no problems.  I take it daily, and wait 30 mins, get jobs done etc, then have breakfast. Breast care nurse says30 mins is OK, rather than the 1 journey stated on the packet.

  • Sorry,  should say 1 hour on packet.

  • Hi

I’ve had four or five infusions so far, and haven’t noticed any side effects. As you may have been told already, it’s best to get a dental check-up before you start, as invasive dental treatment (eg root canal) is best avoided while you’re on bisphosphonates.  My unit wanted a letter from my dentist before I started, confirming that my teeth were in decent condition. Best of luck x
