Hi everyone,

I start endocrine treatment next week (so far had mastectomy and radiotherapy) and I was just wondering what to expect in terms of what it feels like - basically does it hurt!?

Thanks Slight smile

  • I have the zoladex implant every 4 weeks and after the first one, they gave me Emla cream to use about an hour or 2 before the implant is put in and it just numbs the skin. I only got this as I was in the middle of chemo and I didn't want to develop a needle phobia. It just stung a little but it's fine. It goes in your tummy.

The zoledronic acid doesn't hurt going in - I get an infusion every 6 months. Some people get a bit of joint & muscle pain for a few days but I've had no side effects to speak of.

I have been getting Zoladex injection in my tummy every 28 days for a year now , needle is just a bit bigger than the regular needles due to the implant I guess but everytime it's being done  it's always a little nippy but it doesn't last long .
