Hi, long story short, I had a lumpectomy & Licap + complications, followed by a simple mastectomy 2 months later, they would not reconstruct at the time. I’m now considering less intensive forms of recon, for instance no one offered partial implants or lipo filling post lumpectomy…
This time with the cancer dealt with, I’m considering exclusive lipofilling which has been done in Paris with great results but also seen a few ladies on other forums say they’ve had this in the U.K., but I don’t know where. If any one has any info could you please share with me please?
Also 3D implants printed with your own cells from France on hydro gel, which later dissipates once colonised with your own fat cells. Again does anyone know of this in the U.K.?
Thank you x
Hi Greenfairy
I was offered lipofilling after a second lumpectomy at the Royal Marsden, but I chose to have a LICAP reconstruction instead as I wasn’t keen on the 3 or 4 operations required over a couple of years to get the final result. Not sure if they offer it after mastectomy as it might require too many sessions to get a decent size - I believe up to 50% of the cells get reabsorbed by the body so it needs numerous goes at it.
The 3D printed implants sound interesting - am going to have to Google that now!

Hi Lottie,
Well I’ve found one article that suggests 2.2 times or up to 6, so yes it would take a bit of work. Link below for interest:

on the 3D printing piece, have a look at this link - so interesting https://www.3dnatives.com/en/3d-printing-applications-in-the-fight-against-breast-cancer-141020215/
Healscape is one of the companies named in France working on the implants.
Best wishes x
