Abraxane info & side effects

I have had Abraxane. As you can see in this Macmillan link, Abraxane is a form of Paclitaxel.

As with any chemo, side effects can be different from one person to another. Also, same patient, same drug, different quantities may produce different side effects or different severity of a side effect. 

During chemo I kept written notes of the side effects and their severity, so I was able to give my oncologist a clear picture of what was happening. Also, when given any medication to counter a side effect, I let the oncologist know if the medication did or did not do what it was expected to, so that the oncologist was then able to adjust accordingly. At one point chemo dose needed to be adjusted so Abraxane was cut down by 20%, another time a medication did not do what was wanted so it was switched for another.

Also, any time I wanted to take something that was not prescribed I ran it by my oncologist, regardless of how harmless it appeared to be. He allowed certain supplements (some vitamins and some minerals) but banned others, and when it came to complementary therapies, again, he allowed some, banned others, all specific to all the systemic treatment I was receiving, and to my own medical circumstances. So the overall advice here is to keep the oncologist informed, and check everything in advance.
