I had my hair cut short last week in preparation for the big fallout. Since then I've had a painful scalp. No product was used but that's how it feels. Is this the start of me loosing my hair?

  • Hi

can’t say for definite cos we all different but yes this happened to me and a few others that I know of just before hair shedding .

I can remember the pain when wind ruffled short hair . For me the answer was to get hairdresser to do a no.2 shave ( less risk of cuts to scalp ) the relief was wonderful .
wishing you well with rest of treatment.

  • How far into chemo are you now? Jo x

  • Hi Margaret

Thanks for your reply. I only had it cut short last Thursday and thought she must have cut me but the feeling has spread and feels exactly as you describe.

Think I might have to go even shorter now.

Yes baby steps and deep breathing haha. Thanks for your support

  • I had EC x 6 and was told by onco def hair will go possibly after first session . So had pixie cut and then only washed when necessary and finger dried I managed to keep it til third session before shave . A bamboo sleep beanie will make you more comfortable in bed and stop hair loss thru rubbing on pillow .

History of hair was shaved in Dec 2019 went into isolation Feb/  March 2020 with a fuzzy growth came out in July 2020 needing a haircut lol It has come back strong and healthy . I’ve got lazy so keeping it short ….it needs cutting every 4 weeks .
best wishes with rest of treatment

  • Thanks again Margaret especially for the sleep beanie advice. Just put 1 on! I've got to have 3 x EC the 12 x something I can't remember at the mo. Hate the brain fog haha.

Your story is very comforting. Thanks
