I finished chemo in mid Jan and last week had a blood test to look at my vitamin levels. Unrelated to cancer stuff and I thought was quite innocuous! But now they want to repeat them as my white cells and neutrophils are both borderline low. Obviously, as I'm sure we all do, my mind goes to cancer. Is it leukemia? Doctor said that would present with other symptoms so they're not overly concerned but want to be thorough, given my breast cancer situation.
I wonder if low white cells and neutrophils could be a hangover from chemo, but it does seem like quite a while ago for them to still be low - I finished chemo nearly 10 weeks ago. Has anyone else had this? Normally I'd get on the phone, but I'm not even sure who I could call to ask!

Thank you for your replies. I am on Zoladex, I'm not sure if that can affect white cells but I'll look it up! The doctor said the levels were borderline low, 1.9 white cells and 1.8 neutrophils, the normal range starts at 2 for both. I don't know how much difference those 0.1 and 0.2 make though... It was one test and they're going to repeat it to see if it's still low. Not sure if it will delay starting radiotherapy. I hope not and hope it's not blood cancer. Does the stress ever end
