First of my yearly mammograms

I had mine today first one since diagnosis after last year's  mammogram I have my last herceptin injection next week so I should find out then good luck my lovely xx

Hi, I had my first mammogram 3 weeks ago and haven’t had a letter thru but I spoke to my oncologist yesterday for our 6 week telephone catch up, I asked if she had the results and she said it’s taking longer as they’d wanted to compare this mammogram for left boob with last years as they had seen an area which looked like a lymph node then ? It’s still there.  This is my good boob btw as had right mastectomy . Apparently this area was seen on last years too, I had no idea, but the oncologist said ‘not to worry, everything is normal’ why would you have a raised lymph node for a whole year ? After expressing my concern she has offered a face to face consultation so she can examine me also at the next 6 week appointment, I’m going into panic mode again now !!

Its a good thing if its unchanged from last year as X ray appearance would be nothing to worry about, but great that the oncologist has arranged to see you. You need to have that discussion with them for your peace of mind. Its so hard to stay calm when you have had cancer and then thrown curve balls like this, but you've got this. Don't panic, just breathe and do whatever helps to take your mind off it if you can. We are here for you.

Hi Parisa, wishing you all the best with your results. So are they comparing images, I didn't know your lymph nodes could be viewed on mammograms is that what your oncologist is advising xxx

Hi zephyr, no I didn’t think that lymph nodes could be picked up on mammogram ? that’s what worries me but at least oncologist says looks ok but I’ll not be happy until she’s seen me and I’ll hold out for an ultrasound , done a year of this lark, just finishing radiotherapy so don’t want to start again !
