Hello Ladies,
I have read chemotherapy for breast cancer puts nearly everyone into an early menopause. If so why do some people then get zoledex injections?
In my opinion I was premenopausal at 45, prior to chemo (no periods but ovary preserving hysterectomy the year before with very regular periods). Chemo put me into instant menopause with experiencing hot flushes, night sweats, dryness etc. He took my bloods and confirmed they were post menopausal so put me on letrozole but then said I didn’t need zoledex although previously he said I would. I am worried my ovaries will wake up in several months time and I won’t know.
My friend bloods were post menopausal after chemo but 16 months later got her periods back. When they rechecked her bloods her ovaries were working equivalent to a 35 yr old.
Anyone in the same situation of being premenopausal prior to chemo and on hormone treatment that’s an AI and not tamoxifen?? In your 40’s?? Any advice ? It maybe I just don’t understand it.
Many thanks
