Hi I was diagnosed with stage one lobular breast cancer in April 2021. I started taking letrozole in June 21 just before I started radiotherapy in July 21.
I’ve had of couple of urine infections in the past few weeks and am needing to go to the loo so often has anyone else had these issues? I’m struggling with treatment related nerve pan as well so defitely didn’t need urine infections. Love and hugs to all

Hi Honey1810
I am not exactly in the same situation as you but
1. I had awful bladder infection problems during chemo (which included drugs that reduce oestrogen). At one point for every sip of water, I went straight to the loo.
2. after chemo and mastectomy I was on letrozole and yes my urinary frequency went sky high plus I actually lost my bladder content in the street! (only a very few times over a few months)
My GP gave me antibiotics for bladder infection super quickly plus I was prescribed Mirabegron 50mg modified-release tablets. I was also given solifenacin. I am currently referred to urology where I had a thorough examination and see the specialist physio.
I believe there have also been some recommendations on this website from people having such problems recommending an 'alternative supplement' to help ward off bladder infections. I can't remember what they were as my current problems are to do with urinary frequency rather than infection but a search of this site should help you find it. .
Lastly, I believe you can get something that delivers low dose oestrogen to the vagina but you would have to ask your oncologist about this - I asked but was not given it.
Wishing you luck, I currently take exemestane, I swopped from letrozole but couldn't say that made a difference to urinary problems.
xx
D-mannose is the supplement and a lot of people have huge success with, including me. I take it daily and it really does help
I have lobular bc and take Letrozole. I have had a few urine infections since staying on it, have the sensation to pee most of the day. Pretty rubbish. Thinking of trying the D- mannose (think that’s it) that is recommended by a few on here. Hope it settles for you x
I had mastectomy and lymph node removal January this year. Two weeks ago I started on Letrozole and at the weekend I had the most raging urine infection. could hardly bear the pain and there was a lot of blood in my urine. I got antibiotics and have to take them for a week. Never thought this could be related to Letrozole but it was so different, raging pain and shivering, to any previous urine infections in the past. if this is related to Letrozole, I am really concerned.
