Hi I’ve been on Tamoxifen fir a few months and am having radiotherapy at a different hospital. The oncologist there has suggested to my gp that I change antidepressants as it doesn’t mix well with Tamoxifen. I’m a bit worried about changing them as have been in them a few years and feel the best I have in a long time. I had a ECG and the QTC interval was 499 milliseconds and 500 is cause for concern.
this is concerning me now and I am not sure what to do as two other health professional say different things. Has anyone else had this problem?
Hi Pickle52 welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear about how worried that you are.
This question has come up before in the forum and if I remember rightly certain types of Anti-depressants reduce the uptake of Tamoxifen in Breast Cancer which is not what you need if that makes sense? I also understand that the combination of these two drugs can lead to irregular heart rhythms. Maybe that's why they are suggesting the change for you.
Im wondering if you might like to post your query in the Ask a Nurse thread on here as they may be able to answer more fully for you, if that is of any help for you.
If you click on the above link which I have inserted that should take you straight to the thread to ask a nurse. xxx
