Anastrozole pain-a solution

I have been on Anastrozole for9 months. I have been subjected to pain in my entire body for the last 4 to 5 months. On the hospital scale of 7 to 8 all of the time. I was at my wits end taking 8 x 30mg codeine and 500mg of paracetamol daily.

I broke down one day to the Doc and said I could not stand it anymore. A different doc to my usual contact.

The Doc prescribed amitriptyline 10mg rising to 20 mg after a week if the 10 did not work.

The side effects the first week were horrible, but I persevered I am now on 20mg and I have no pain at all. They do knock you out at night, but it means I am sleeping better as well. So a good night's sleep and no pain.

This may not work for everyone but it has transformed my life. I just hope it lasts.

I just had to share in the hope that it may help someone else.

Why was this not prescribed earlier?

Why was I left on 8 tablets a day that were not working for so long?

Why did I have to get so low I would rather die than take the constant pain  before someone finally helped.

I hope this thread helps others. If you have constant pain, aching limbs etc insist and keep insisting till someone listens to you. I know it's hard I was almost past the point of trying to be heard.

Please try I feel so much better amytriptaline may not be your solution, but something else may be.

  • I forgot to say I still get tired more quickly, but am learning to pace myself and try not to push 36 hour days into 24 hours!!!!!

  • Hi

What you went through sounds horrendous and I'm so pleased you finally received the treatment you needed and are now pain free.

I've been taking letrozole for about 10 weeks and was extremely tired but changing whe I take the tablet has made a difference.

Side effects can appear much further down the line, so how you managed to get pain free is good to know.

I hope you continue to feel better and take advantage of the good night's sleepBlush

    Take care xx
