Hello all. I’ve been reading the posts which are so helpful, however they are mostly a couple of months old now. So I wonder if there are others out there just about to start radiotherapy?
I am starting 5 sessions on Monday.
Any words of wisdom, or tips for managing side effects would be appreciated.
I have my pre- treatment appointment tomorrow so i am hoping for more information then as I have largely forgotten a lot of what the oncologist told me at my appointment!
Hi
There's a radiotherapy thread for December/ January/ February that you'll find useful. I'm sorry I can't work put how to link it but is you look through older posts I think it pops up on page 3 !
Hi there, the side effects of radiotherapy are usually much easier to manage than chemo. The main thing for me was to moisturise twice a day and I used E45 or Aveeno. I also found sleeping in a crop top bra was a little more comfortable. My top tip for going into each radiotherapy session is to wear a strap ly vest top. Then when you get changed you keep your vest top on (no bra) and when you get to the r/t table, simply slip the shoulder strap down. It’s a bit more dignified snd saves faffing about with hospital gowns. Good luck for next week.
