I had to waite 8 months for my op i will have it on the 10th march 2022 they would not do it because i had a infushion around my heart and lung i have had a clip put in now i have got to have a seed put in before op they put me on anastrozole tablets in july 2021 i am worried what is next can anyone give advice please.

  • Hi  good news that you have a date for your op. You don't mention what your treatment plan is, or what type of surgery you are having, but the seed is just a small marker, put in using ultrasound just to help the surgeon in the operation make sure they are in the right place.

As to what is next, have you asked your consultant if you need further treatment after surgery? Hope this helps.

  • What is next may have to wait until they get the pathology results from the surgery. Once these are in, your consultant would be able to outline the plan.

Sounds like the situation with your heart and lungs has improved, since they are now happy to go ahead with surgery. I hope all goes very well for you on the 10th of March, and that you get all the results and any treatment plan soon after.

  • Thank you for getting back to me its all new to me on here they are taking the lump away and doing a  nipple aerola complex removed and a sentina node biopsy and see what they find then radiotherapy.

  • Hi thank you for your advice it helps they said they would see how far towards the front of the nipple they would take it off which would be a nipple aerola complex removed and then do a sentina node biopsy  then results and then radiotherapy if needed .

  • Ok. One last thing I forgot to mention earlier: they normally say it takes about 2 weeks for the pathology results to come in, but sometimes it's a bit earlier or later, and once the results are in they normally want to discuss it first amongst themselves (the multi-disciplinary team) so as to agree the best treatment plan based on the information they have. Your breast nurse may be able to give you a more accurate prediction on how long it is expected to take.

Many here, myself included, felt better once they knew the results from pathology and had a treatment plan. I hope it works the same way for you, and that going forward things start moving smoothly for you.

  • Thank you so much for that it helps a lot its just so scary fingers crossed all the best for you to.
