Hello people

I wondered if I could ask a question?

Approximately 1 - 2 years before you received your cancer diagnosis did you have a highly stressful event (one of those 'I can't believe that', 'how could they'  or 'why now' moments?)

Many thanks

  • Hi my father died just over 18 months before my diagnosis, he woke with a headache was rushed to hospital and 4 hours later he was gone, he had a bleed on the brain and there was nothing they could do, the most traumatic thing that’s ever happened apart from being diagnosed with breast cancer.last year.

  • Yes - 2 years prior to diagnosis I had a very stressful work incident. I often wonder if that was a trigger event.

  • Hi my dad passed away last year then 4 days later my symptoms started  could not feel a lump. My Dad had started to get unwell for about 6 months previously to that. I wonder if that was a trigger event x

I also had a work related event which increased the stress levels.  I hope that it has been resolved to a point where you feel less stressed about it currently.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

I only asked the question today, but I have had a couple of responses. Did you have a stressful episode before diagnosis? Hope you are OK.

Hi. I think I responded to your second message first. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my question.

I am so sorry to hear about your dad, a very traumatic time for you. If you felt he was becoming unwell it certainly may have increased your stress levels.

You mentioned your symptoms started, but not a lump. If you don't  mind me asking what symptoms did you have (no worries if you don't want to answer that)

    Best wishes

  • Hi I had nipple discharge, I thought it was stress induced at the time  I chatted to my family and said I wanted to make sure. I am her2 positive under going chemo at the moment with herceptin. My lump was 20mm. Can I ask your diagnosis please xx

Thank goodness you went to check. Chemo is hard, but you can do it. I was diagnosed with stage 2 with a lump of 4.5, then on scans four areas of concern were found. I had chemo, radiotherapy and hormone therapy.
