Hi . I’m due my second round of chemo this week . I’m quiet nervous and worried can’t sleep . Just wonder is it true that every round of chemo is harder can anyone share if this is true and that u get weaker with each round . I’d like to know what to expect and try and prepare .
Hi Maggie I’ve had my 3rd EC chemo and I found it actually got easier! The first was the most difficult and tiring and I was very sick for a couple of days. By the third I wasn’t sick at all and soon got my energy back. I heard it could be because our bodies get used to the chemo. Hope you have a similar experience.
Hi Maggie, I found that every round was different to be honest, some side effects I had with some rounds I didn’t have with others. There was a kind of a pattern to which days of the cycle I felt worse and that stayed the same by and large. In some ways the second was a bit easier as I had some idea what was going to happen, whereas the first time I felt clueless and really scared. I didn’t find the actual chemo to be significantly worse, I did get a UTI which made me feel unwell. The thing I found that increased was the fatigue but it was a gradual accumulation for me. I know we’re all different and sometimes you can’t believe we’ve all had the same treatment but hopefully it won’t be too different to what you experienced first time x
Hi, I had a similar pattern to side effects but I didn't get the “worsening” that people speak of. I think we're all different. I tried really hard to exercise and found that helped a lot. Good luck
I walked a lot, and agree it helped in many ways. I am doing good thank you, 3 more Herceptin injections to go!!
Hi Maggie, I have finished my 5 months of chemo last week. And I was as scared as you are now, couldn’t sleep and all… but with few days good and bad, overall not as bad.. towards the end of the 5th month I had discoloured nails and few few rashes on my hands. My surgery for lumpectomy and axillary nodes clearance is due on 2nd of March and I am really really worried for that and like you said I am nervous and can’t sleep well thinking.. hope your second chemo goes well and don’t worry chemo is not as much hard..
