Hi all,
I had a mastectomy with immediate implant after being told it was unlikely that I would need radiotherapy, things changed and I am due to start radiotherapy on Thursday for 15 sessions. Wondered if anyone had similar and had problems with implant.
Thanks
Hi, I can’t help with the implant bit, but I share your concerns about change of treatment plan post masectomy. Radiotherapy has just been added to my treatment plan post masectomy with diep reconstruction and so I share your worries about how that will impact the reconstruction. What reason did they give you for adding the radiotherapy?
Hope someone can help re the implant, I’m trying to get the same info re the diep, no joy yet.
Take care Mickey xx️
Hi Mickey,
When I had my mastectomy and implant they thought the lymph nodes were clear but they found 1 of the 3 lymph nodes they removed was infected, they then found it was her 2 so I went from just mastectomy to mastectomy, chemo and next radiotherapy! Not feeling optimistic as it always seems to be worst case.
Hope you get on alright with your radiotherapy.
Gillie
Hi Gillie,
I’m sorry to hear that - what a shock for you. Have you got dates to start chemo next?
I don’t know why yet, but I was told that my lymph nodes were clear abs I know I’m lucky there.
Thank you and I wish you all the best too.
