Hi Everyone,
Since I have had my op on 2nd December 2021 and since my drain was removed I have had a horrendous pain down my arm. I phoned up my Breast Care Nurse and I went to the hospital to see her and she said I have lymphoedema and has booked me into a clinic for treatment. I apparently will be wearing a sleeve as the fluid is swelling up my arm as I had my lymph nodes removed. Some mornings I am in tears with the pain, it is worse after my exercises they give you and after showering. My appointment is not until 2nd February so I will have to put up with until then. My husband has made a sleeve for my arm from the stockings I wore in hospital when I had my mastectomy. I am also on paracetamol and liquid morphine when I need it. Did anybody else have this trouble after there op?
Hello Roders, sorry to hear that you've developed lymphodema following your op. I haven't had this but had my lymph nodes removed earlier this week so am monitoring and keeping everything crossed that I don't develop it after my drain is taken out.
You've got a while until your next appointment so If the pain relief isn't working then perhaps go back to your nurse and see if they can provide something stronger for you. Also, I've read that you need to get properly measured for a compression sleeve so I'm not sure if wearing a home made one will be a good idea or could make the condition worse - perhaps discuss this with your nurse too if you haven't already? I hope things improve for you soon, and sorry I couldn't be of much help but maybe changing the title of this thread to lymphodema rather than chemotherapy might get more responses from members who will be able to give you some advice x
Hi LaLaLou,
Thanks for your reply. I am sorry I put the wrong title on my thread. I was actually going to write about chemo then went onto my Lymphoedema problem. I have seen the nurse and I got some Morphine from my doctor. I don't there is anything better than Morphine. She said the home made sleeve is fine as I had it on when I went to see her.
