Hi there,
What a wonderful tool this community is - I have found it so helpful reading about other people's experiences - it has helped a lot.
I am 2 weeks post surgery for a wide local excision and sentinel lymph node biopsy - which went well and I am thankfully over the post operative issues now.
Although my stitches are out (couldn't have glue) I still am still covering the wounds - and dreaded changing the dressings myself - but once I had done it for the first time it wasn't so bad. I am wondering when I can start putting on something like bio-oil?
I see the oncologist this week, so may get a better idea of this soon when next steps are decided.
Re the pain - I am just taking paracetamol and I can't say the pain has got any less - it's more in the underarm/lymph area than the breast.
I got a front fastening bra from George/Asda which was really good but I got a bit of a rash! So another non-underwired bra from M&S did the trick eventually.
any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
Happy New Year everyone and good luck to those whose surgery is to come.
I started using bio oil after 6 weeks and my scar is looking much better now - my lumpectomy was on 2/8/21.
I didn't really get much pain but my armpit was quite 'sticky' for a number of weeks. Keep up with your exercises, I actually added my own in as I found the ones suggested too easy.
