Hi folks, I’m just about to start chemo for 18 weeks before surgery.
Dirs anyone have any recommendations on good bras? My cancerous breast is quite misshapen and painful so was after something comfy but supportive.

thanks Winkxxx

  • Hi, I got a post surgery bra from M&S and found it very soft and comfortable, and I am a G cup and it was supportive enough, though I wouldn’t run a marathon in it! Best of luck with your chemo

  • Hi. I got a bra from Sainsburys which zips up at the front. I found it more comfortable than the M&S post surgery bra which is a little too long and digs into my chest at the front. I had a mastectomy 3 weeks ago. Both have pockets if needed. Best wishes for the chemo.

  • Thanks for the info. I won’t be having surgery until the chemo finishes ( about 4 months time) but my dodgy breast ( with a big tumour) is very uncomfortable now. I’ll check out M&S and Sainsbury’s. Thanks both xx

  • Hello Sazbar, I found a Sainsbury's bra very comfortable as it is soft, lined and has a wide back strap. It is £12. The name is "Super Smooth Scoop Neck Bra". So far, they have kept their shape after washing and still comfy. The only thing I have found with them is that they are a slightly on the small side. You can buy them online.

  • Hi

Having tried many post surgery bras I came across a Sloggi bra in Marks and Spencer’s although they can be bought cheaper online from Sloggi website, but I would recommend you try one on first in a shop to get the correct size and fitting. The one I chose was the Zero Feel. It accommodates my prosthetic and is very comfortable to wear, is easy to put on and off, has no clips or fastenings, washes like a dream, can be worn at night, no skin irritation. It makes me feel ‘normal’ and has given me the confidence to wear tops that did not ‘ feel right’  with other conventional post surgery bras. I cannot recommend it highly enough but I would be wary of similar looking imitations which loose their elasticity after a few washes. Please note I found this bra beside the post surgery bras and it is not sold specifically as such but for me it is my bra of choice and comfort.

  • Hi  I bought the Sloggi Zero feel from M& S as I found  it difficult to find a post surgery bra that was comfortable and fitted. This one is very comfortable, easy to put on and off, washes like a dream, accommodates my prosthetic, but can be worn before surgery, I would recommend trying it on in store before buying but if it suits it can be bought online from Sloggi too.

  • Thanks. I’m going to try a few I think. Definitely feel a need to be comfortable x

I noticed m and s are doing no vat on post surgery bras at the moment I’ve just ordered a couple saving nearly £10

  • There is no vat as they are classed as a medical item

  • I will share a tip for the all in one type of bra..... you all may know this.... me being me didn't give it a thought - other than struggle, till someone else said about how easy they are to take on and off.

My being a larger lady (hmmm lady ??) anyway, I would put these on and end up with rolls of material across my back that would not pull down.....

The tip...... 'step' into them and pull up over bum and tummy and put on this way.

I honestly had not thought of this - it works great for me xxx

I'm hoping this makes sense - only my mind says one thing and my fingers type whatever they like x
