Hi,

I was diagnosed in April 2021, had 4x EC and 4x Docetaxel followed by 'successful' surgery.

My oncologist has now just dropped the bombshell that I will have to have 14 rounds of Kadcyla???

Is anyone else on this?? How is it?? Are you able to work??

Sorry, I wasn't expecting to have so much more treatment.

Any help will be appreciated

Bex

  • Hi Bex - it’s like reading what I wanted to write myself - im in v similar situation.  Diagnosed with stage 2 HER2 positive breast cancer in left breast in June.  3 months of chemo to shrink tumor, lumpectomy and was prepared for radiotherapy, one year of Herceptin injections and 5 years of letrozole meds.   Following successful surgery - Pathology showed crumbs of sparse activity remaining - so bombshell of 14 rounds of Kadcyla also.  Recovering well from surgery, just beginning to feel and look a tiny bit more like me and was ready for that to continue.  V worried about being knocked back quality of life wise with Kadcyla - but at same time, I’m told this is the gold standard of treatment - previously used in secondary cancer not for primary - so today I had the first Kadcyla treatment - I’m home, writing from bed - about to watch Sex in The City and so far feeling just physically and emotionally drained from sitting back in the chemo chair and having bloods taken.   I have very mixed feelings - of course I don’t want the cancer to return but also v tempted to take my chances and continue with Herceptin.    Will keep you posted on how I’m feeling in next few days.   I’ve a lot of questions for Oncologist though xxx

    Hi,

You've absolutely hit the nail on the head - I'm exactly the same just beginning to feel like myself. I was so looking forward to getting back to work and some sort of a normal life.

I really hope it goes well for you. Hopefully we'll speak soon

    Thank you. Bex xxx
