Hello, so far I have always had my pre chemo blood test the day before having chemo but wondered if this has to be done that close to the chemo or could it be done a couple of days earlier? Will try to contact my team tomorrow to ask but just thought that I'd ask here too. Thanks
I normally do mine two days prior, to give myself an extra day in case there are issues and the bloods need to be repeated. On two occasions I asked if I could to it three days prior to chemo day and was told on both occasions that as long as it is within 72 hours it would be fine.
I have no idea if this is an internal policy only or applies everywhere.
Thanks everyone. My chemo is on a Tuesday and as the hospital doesn't do blood tests at the weekend it looks like I'll have to have them done on Monday. I'm due to go to the hospital on Friday (not chemo related) so thought I might be able to get away with having the blood test then to save having to go back on Monday, then back again on Tuesday for the chemo. Not a huge problem, but useful to know about the 72hr limit.
You've got plenty of replies but like others, I had bloods on a Monday, oncologist appointment on a Tuesday and chemo was a Thursday,
