I started having abdominal cramps, more on left side to back area then sometimes whole abdomen… 9 days after kadcyla infusion, my 3rd one. I do suffer from constipation but not to this level. I’m taking laxatives which help slightly.
my question is… is it common to experience these side effects 9 days after the infusion.
? this is my 3rd day now. Buscopan helps for a while.
Help !!
Hi Hmfm
While I don’t have an answer for you I noticed you haven’t had any replies yet so I thought I’d check in with you to move you back up to the start of the discussion board as you’ve moved on to the second page. Maybe you should ring your bcn for their advice tomorrow.
Hope you feel better soon.
Best wishes

I get chronic constipation and pain exactly as you describe. Sometimes it gets stuck and I have to take Movicol for several days to shift it - and the pain in the first few hours is awful. Out of curiosity I asked my ultrasound technician scanning me the other day if she could see something in the area that hurt - upper left quadrant. It’s the point where your bowel goes round a corner, and sure enough, that’s what it was. I suspect people who’ve never suffered chronic constipation can completely underestimate how painful and debilitating it can be. Do check with your GP but you might need a good dose of a laxative like Movicol over a few days to get things shifted. It’s on prescription- you can buy it but it’s dreadfully expensive. Good luck and I hope whatever it is you’re better soon
Hi Anabrock thanks for your reply. Yes that’s where I get the pain! I did know the descending part of the colon can struggle to shift things along if constipated. I phoned the helpline and I’ve took 7 laxido and 2.5 litres of water today. Lot of gurgling going on in there !! The ache has lessened slightly so I’m thinking things might have moved inside a bit. Horrible chat but honestly makes you feel so ill. I might need to repeat tomorrow as hate feeling like this . Take care x
