Hi, I've been diagnosed with DCIS after having a routine mammogram. I am going to hospital on Tuesday to have a wide local excision in my right breast. I am very worried and anxious about this surgery. Has anyone had WLE, how quickly did you recover? How did you feel after surgery? I will be having radiotherapy. Any advice from anyone who has had DCIS, was your surgery a success? Look forward to hearing from you.
Hi mar55
i had lumpectomy (wide local excision) and total lymphnode clearance 3 weeks ago and I can honestly say the most painful bit is my armpit from node clearance. Had good news this week to say my surgeon got clear margins.
all the best for your op you will be fine

Hi mar55
I had same as you but mixed with some invasive. Had WLE. I was very anxious as well before it, but the surgery went very well. Had no problems whatsoever with it and no pain. I took paracetamol afterwards regularly though. I felt great on that side. I also had a mastectomy but that was not so straightforward as the WLE. Would have been but for a blood vessel leaking. I'm feeling great now though ! Can understand your nervousness, but let me reassure you that all should be fine. Let us know how you got on - and good luck for Tuesday.
Thank you for your reassuring words. I'm glad to read you are well now. I will let you know how it all goes.
Hello mar55 I thought I’d say hi since my surgery is today as well. Also DCIS after routine mammogram (first one so glad to catch it). I had a right mastectomy and some lymph nodes taken. Sore obviously (and awake) but feel OK. I hope you do too. All the best C x
Hello, I hope you're ok? My surgery went well yesterday. I had a wide local excision only so don't feel too bad this morning, slight discomfort and pain on my right breast, the painkillers are helping! I hope you're recovery goes well. Take care and best wishes Maria x
Hi, I had my surgery yesterday which all went well. I'm glad it's over! I have slight discomfort and pain on my right breast but is bearable, I thought I would be in much more pain so relieved about that. I will be returning back to the hospital in a couple of weeks time for results.
Hi, I am 10 days post mastectomy and axillary node clearance. Had drain out last Friday and follow up of wound tomorrow. I have not been in too much pain and managing the exercises. Under arm area is numb but other than that ok.
Hope you recover well x
Excellent news ! Glad you're OK. Keep up the painkillers though if pain comes back again after anaethetic wears off. It's a huge relief isn't it once you've got over that massive hurdle. Do take it easy though even so.
How u feeling Haveacuppa I will have the same as you too ..I hope since you're here you must be able to use your right hand for typing!
