Hi All, I have been following the thread of oestrogen blocking medication to see how it is affecting people and the things they find that help. I have been on Letrozole for just over 3 weeks, so early days, but for the last week my abdomen feels tender and in an evening my stomach makes really loud gurgling sounds and feels like there is a bubble machine going off in there. I've also woken up feeling sick.

I haven't seen these symptoms in the thread so just wondered if anyone else has experienced them or if it could be due to something completely unrelated to Letrozole. If you have experienced this did you find anything that helped??

Thanks

  • Hi, I've just finished week 5 of Letrozole and I've not experienced any of these symptoms, so sorry I can't be of any help. Might be worth having a chat with your nurse or oncologist. Good luck

Thanks for your reply, I'll go a bit longer and see if it settles and if not I'll take your advice and speak to someone about it. Thumbsup

  • Hi Kizzy57. Unrelated to my cancer diagnosis, I have had very similar  stomach symptoms to you, both in the past and more recently. My GP thought it might be too high levels of acid in my stomach and prescribed Omepralzole which definitely helped. Just a thought and might be worth a conversation with your GP. Hope you get some answers. All the best.

Thanks so much for your reply as that makes sense. I have suffered from acid reflux in the past and that is why I am not having the bone protecting drug as they think the acid reflux could be more of a problem than the chance of bone cancer. I was prescribed esomeprazole then so I will certainly look into it.

    Thanks again

  • Hi. I hope you  get things sorted out and that your stomach settles down - it’s not what you need on top of everything else. All the best. Ros.
