Hi Hevs so whats the plan for you now? Gosh no wonder you are in shock especially having had the letter saying you were all clear?

  • Hi gail i have to waite till the left side has gone had a marker put in dont go back till march it is hard waiting how are you getting on

  • Hi Hevs

Sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer.  It's not surprising that it was a shock particularly after been given the all clear after you had a mammogram.  Easy for me to say I know but try taking each day as it comes and try and keep yourself busy.

Wishing you the best of luck with your treatment.

    Best wishes

  • Hello Hevs. I have type 2 diabetes and I am undergoing EC and cyclophosphamide chemotherapy.  I find that the steroids raise my blood glucose and it shoots into the 20's. so far it has slowly come down when I stop the steroids.  (I have had 2 cycles).  The GP gave me some metformin to take but other than an extremely upset stomach with pain and acute diarrhea they have made no difference.  (Not the most convenient thing when you are hooked up to tubes etc.)  I have felt very tired, more so this time but I have just rested and then feel better.  Good luck with your treatment.  I hope all of it goes well.  Take care.

  • Hello Thirds

Just to say hang on in there. You are doing great and you can do this.

Sorry to hear about the upset stomach. I dont know if it is appropriate for you but I found that omeprazole helped me with this during chemo. It was the nurses in the chemo suite who told me to get some and take it every morning.

    Wishing you all the best

  • Thank you WallyDug.  I have been given two omeprazole tablets at each cycle, one to be taken for two days.  I will ask them if I can try this.  I am aware that I have so far been very fortunate in that I have not had extreme nausea headache etc.  Tiredness can be coped with and as I live on my own I can rest if I so wish.  Hope it won't get a lot worse as I was so tired this time.  Thanks again for your reply.

  • I would ask your GP/oncologist for omeprazole tabs. to cover you during the full cycles. Lots of people I know have taken these for years and years for things like stress induced indigestion, acid reflux, heliobacter treatment, stomach ulcers etc. I don't recommend taking them for years and years but GP/oncologist might think that they are a good idea while you are having bad stomach upsets due to chem. You can but ask.

    Good luck

    and big hugs.
