Hi,
Can someone tell me what happens at your pre-op please.
Thank you x
Hi they take your blood, blood pressure, do an ECG, take you pulse rate and then ask you a million questions about your health, any medication you take. They advise you whether you have to isolate and when you’ll have your covid test and explain about not eating before surgery and they give you leaflets to read that explain what you need to do and explain about general anaesthetic and it gives you an opportunity to tell them about any problems you’ve had with any other operations you’ve had or anything you’re concerned about. I think I was there about 30-45 mins in all.
It’s nothing to worry about. Xx
Exactly as Di54 says, and they also take height and weight and I got my covid test at the same time as my pre-op was just a few days before surgery.
Make sure you tell them about all medication, including non-prescription herbal supplements as some things can increase risk, e.g. something that might affect your blood or heart rate.
