Confused

My cousin had surgery for the same type of BC as mine the day before I had surgery at the same hospital.   Her follow up appointment was on the Friday as mine was on the Monday.  She is cancer free and has already seen the Oncologist and started treatment.  I have been told they found cells in the lymph nodes they removed (which they didn't expect) as well as in the margin of tissue.  Yet a week after she saw the Oncologist I still don't even have an appointment.  Should I be concerned as all the way through the hospital have mixed up my appointments - letter with surgery date a month before actual date, covid test same day and time as surgery, two letters telling me to be at two different places at the same time. a letter for telephone follow up but when no-one called I rang and was told by the Surgeon it was supposed to be a face to face appointment.   Am I being impatient or just the victim of a crappy admin service. My cousin's experience has been completely different and smooth sailing.

  • Hi Jules211 welcome to the forum. It sounds like your cousin has has surgery which has removed all the Cancer and she can move onto treatment.  However, it looks likely that you may need further surgery if they didn't get clear margins and also found cells  in your lymph nodes meaning they may have to remove more.

I dont think you are being impatient at all if it was me I would be bugging the life out of them to get moving and wanting to know what is happening next, by whom and when so don't let them off the hook keep on their case. You dont need this extra stress with them not being very straightforward in the process for you.

    Hi Jules

You are a victim of crappy administration and it's not good enough. It sounds like you will need a little more treatment .   I wish you well do you have a breast care nurse?
