Does anyone know how long after surgery you should restart the phesgo treatment for HER 2+? Originally started with neoadjuvant chemo but paused for surgery...

  • Hi Ibloodwin

I don't know if there is an official recommendation. I started back on the H&P by infusion about 6 weeks after surgery, not long after I started RT.

Cant see it doing any harm to phone your BC nurse to ask.....

None of us have been on this path before, so cant be expected to know, if no one tells us. Also, wee reminders never do any harm, I dnt think.

    Wishing you all the best.

  • Thanks I have raised the question and await an answer. Suddenly had a panic as paused phesgo for surgery. Now up to a 7 week gap and suddenly thought about it. Had totally slipped my mind. However, early days after surgery... If you waited 6 weeks, I'm probably not ready yet so can relax a bit.

  • Hi lblodwin, I had surgery 7th July, started phesgo  25th Aug, so 7 weeks after surgery, the nurse did say they give you a break up to and after surgery before restarting again x

  • Thanks for your response, again reassuring.

  • Hi I have currently 4 weeks of paclitaxel left and I am having herceptin every 3 weeks. I have had one surgery my lump was removed with clear margins. But they could not get clear margins on an area of dcis. So I will have another surgery and I have an appointment with my breast surgeon just before chemo finishes. I am not sure if my herceptin will be stopped before surgery. Best wishes xx
