Here's a new thread for discussions around chemotherapy, as the existing threads were getting a little long.

Please do let us know if you have any other threads you think would be useful to link here.

  • Well done for getting it fixed.  I have found mine useful but I would understand if you have reservations about going through it all again.  Canulas can be tricky too if you have narrow veins.  Good luck.  I hope you get a solution.  Take care.

Glad they checked  it out! X

  • I think it's just that particular part of the vein that it was sat in, just unlucky I guess.

  • Oh glad you mentioned it.

  • Hi

Sorry! I meant to say thanks very much for the good luck. Must have worked because my oncologist is very happy. Tumour reduced to almost nothing by chemo and they think everything has been removed plus no signs of anything in the lymph nodes. I've been on antibiotics to clear an infection in the surgery site, seroma's getting better but hoping a hematoma won't stop radiotherapy - I have my first meeting with the RT team on Thursday. Ha ha yes, the dogs are complicated. Are you less sore? Have you had your London break yet?

Anyone else in the middle of chemo please take heart – it's horrid however nice the nurses are but it really does do its job, and when it ends you feel like dancing. Well, maybe not immediately . . . : )

  • Hi , glad to hear the chemo has done it's job. You must be very pleased!!! Way to go! The Radiotherapy is a doddle in comparison. Just the inconvenience of having to attend every day. Good luck with it. If you have to do the Deep Breath Inspiration Hold, get in a bit of practice first... It gives you confidence. Good luck.

  • Thanks . The Deep Breath Inspiration Hold sounds like something I should have been doing all along!

  • Hi

That’s the best news. Puts it all in perspective. I found RT easier than chemo. I even got to enjoy the 8 am session starts (the two at 7.30am when one of the machines was out of order were hell).  I’m still getting up at 6 but we’ll see if that lasts through the winter!  I didn’t make it to London yet.  I had two sore areas from RT and the travelling would have made it worse. I had a gel and some padded dressings recommended by the RT team that really helped. My skin has recovered already and looks almost normal now so I’m happy with how RT has gone overall. My consultant told me seroma is no problem. The RT thread here is lively you could ask there about hematoma. Picturing you dancing with dogs … xx

  • That's brilliant news - makes the chemo so worthwhile.

  • Can I ask everyone what's happening with their hair. I've got my third (& last) EC and then start on weekly paclitaxel on the 7/12.

I had my hair shaved just before cycle 2.  It's thinned a bit but I still have a fairly good covering. I purposely didn't shave my legs and I still have leg hair, underarm hair and thinned pubic hair.

Is this all likely to go? Will I end up totally bald? I know some people say their hair starts to grow back when on paclitaxel. I'm just wondering what to expect in the coming weeks.
