This is a message to all really, but there was someone whose name I can't remember at the moment, who was due to have their operation this Friday. I'd just like to reassure her, having had my similar operation on Monday, that it isn't that bad.
It's certainly not a walk in the park, and I've had to try really hard to think how to do things differently just to totter about - eg walk to the the loo at home, work out how to sleep (?) comfortably. I unfortunately fainted at home yesterday, which is not normal for me, but today I had an MOT to check my drains, as I could not stop myself falling forwards whilst sitting quietly on my bed. That wasn't meant to happen and I was told today we should have called 999 instead of me trying to recover on the hard floor. I was checked out this morning and I was in excellent condition. The NHS staff have been absolutely marvellous to me. I haven't had an operation since tonsils removed at the age of 4, so a whole new world to me, and although appearing to be calm, I was very very worried and have a far too wild imagination for my own good.
So my advice is to do everything they tell you to do and really take notice when they say don't do too much. I feel very wiped out, but I'm actually doing very well, considering this is such major surgery. Best of luck.
Hi venicelagoon I have done a little search, and have seen a past conversation you had with Neevy35 I have tagged her so hopefully she will see your post.
I am glad your are recovering from your op, but sorry to hear you passed out. Take time to rest and recover now. Wishing you all the best.
So it was !!!!! Neevy35 has her op scheduled for today and is more or less the same type as I had. My expectations were low but the result was great and the Surgeon was really really pleased. Achieved much better result than she told me she thought she could. I promised I'd try to let Neevy35 know what to expect, and she was asking if I was OK even before the op, which was very nice of her. Thank you so much for helping.
Hi thanks so much operation all over me and lift tuck both breast done also . I have peca dressing two with little machines that stays on for week . My surgeon was amazing and the nurses as so so good . Now I’m very sore but hopefully if pain management I will get out tomorrow home to my baba . Much loves guys xx
Hi, it wasn't me but I had my mastectomy yesterday. Home in less than 24hours. I feel ok, just totally drained. Tonight I will have my first real food since Thursday so I hope that makes me feel more alert. Had lymph nodes removed as well so two drains which I am emptying and charting myself. Feels very strange to have half a flat chest but it's very early days.
Find it hard just to sit and do nothing. My partner is great. He doing everything and I am so grateful. Take it one day at a time. I keep thinking that I had two large cancer masses in my body yesterday and today I dont. Got to wait to find out what further treatment I may or may not need but onwards and upwards. Hugs to everyone on here.
Lesley xx
