  1. .I've been on letrozole for 12 months and sometimes have brain  fog. Just wondering if anyone else experiences this.

I will be looking for something in a cupboard and cannot physically see it. Will sometimes eventually find it and it will be right in front of me.  Last night my husband found .what I was looking for after me looking there twice.

Not sure it's the pills or just getting old  I'm 57

Would love to hear from anyone who maybe is going through something similar. Have a telephone appointment with my consultant next week and didn't know whether mention this to him.

Hello I am new to the group but have been wanting to ask if anyone else has had certain side effects with Letrozole as cant seem to find an answer to my question on the web anywhere. its slightly embarrassing and not something I wanted to talk to my oncologist about as he is a man. i have read that vaginal dryness can be a side effect but I have had the opposite. I have randomly at times had excessive watery discharge which is slightly off colour! but I cant read that anyone else has had this problem. The only thing I am now thinking maybe connected is that I had been taking CBD oil capsules but I am not good on consistency of taking them and so hadnt really put two and two together,  but the other day took one and the next day had an excessive flow. I then read that CBD can affect the way some medications are processed in the body and so am wondering if thats what is happening. Has anyone else had the same thing?! Also my urine has a slight lime green tinge which again I read Letrozole contains tartrazine which is a yellowy food colouring. so hard when you dont know whats going on with your body. I did mention these things to my breast consultant but she didnt really have any answers Disappointed

  • Hi,

My urine is definitely more greeny yellow and I have vagina dryness since taking letrozole. It is one of the side effects. Never had any discharge tbh, just very dry sometimes. Very stiff in the mornings when I first get up and brain fog too. Things we have to go through to stay alive lol. Hope you get some answers soon. X

    Hi

Like most of the guys I’m new to the group and I’m absolutely exhausted after chemo and radio. My radio finished early March and have been on Letrazole since mid Feb. The side effects I’m experiencing from this drug are horrendous, joint/bone pains especially in my feet where I can barley walk and in the morning just hold my tooth brush is a chore!

You’ve been on these for 2 yrs, how have u coped with the pain?
I cry most day’s as cant do the things I cld do pre-cancer with my kid. If only the pains in the bone cld just go, I can put up with the rest.
brain fog is another where I am talking and just forget what I was saying and I’m only 48.

Lately I’ve also started to experience pain in the soles of my feet where it feels like the skin is ripping inside, it’s horrible Cry

Hi, thanks thats a relief regarding the urine. At first I thought it might be to do with different brands of tablets as I get mine through pharmacy2U so not always same brand but last few deliveries have been the same so not actually proven. i dont get brain fog particularly, think thats just me haha, but terrible stiffness when I first wake up, or sitting like you say for a period of time, I can hardly move. Things seem to be ok at the moment regarding my other issue so am going with the theory of the CBD capsules causing the problem so will give them a miss. One thing I have had this week is terrible ovary/pelvic aching which I tend to get on and off which if you are not ovulating or producing oestrogen you wouldnt think you would get that so again dont know if its the tablets? :/

  • Hi

so sorry to hear you are suffering so badly!  Have you mentioned this to your oncologist?
I have just completed 7 cycles of chemo every 3 weeks, the last 4 with pertuzamab and trastuzumab which I am still having and will finish in November 2021. I had a lumpectomy in March and Have just completed 15 sessions of radiotherapy.  Really suffered with the radiotherapy with severe blisters under my breast!

My oncologist has recommended that I commence with Zoledronic acid every 6 months for 3 years and Anastrozole tablets for 5 years.  I am due to start these next week.

when I questioned him about the side effects of Anastrozole, he said to give it a try for a few months and if I suffer too much with side effects we can try something else.  Apparently there are 3 different types.

maybe you could ask to try another type of AI to see how that works out for you? They really don’t want you to suffer and will try to help.

Also I am wondering are you having pertuzamab and trastuzumab? I am still having this every 3 weeks and I am having joint and leg pains and some days struggle to walk too! So it seems there is nothing easy about our journey!

anyway please speak to your oncologist or doctor and get some help!

    good luck x

    Hi
Yeah I have spoken to my oncologist a few times, she says I’m her impatient patient LOL. I had my session again with her on Thursday and she has taken me off Letrazole for a month to see how I get on. I’m not having pertuzamab or trastuzumab. I’m on Pre-Gablin to manage the numbness and tingling in the fingers and toes.
I had my first Zoledronic acid a couple of wks ago and that left in a lot of pain for a few days after but that has settled.

I’m sorry you are also experiencing similar difficulties and you’re right there’s nothing easy about this journey but god I wish it never happened however I am very grateful that we have treatment to hand and forums like these to share our experience and not feel alone.

Take care and stay strong xx

  • Has anyone taken a break off letrozole to see if these sude effects ease ??????
