I was diagnosed with HER2+ breast cancer in December.  Have had 3xEC and am now on to weekly Taxo with Herceptin. At my last appointment with the oncologist she mentioned that post surgery, as well as Herceptin injections I would probably have some other sort of ongoing treatment for 5 yrs since my cancer was 20% progesterone positive although oestrogen negative.

I'm not worried about it, but on looking on line it seems very unusual to be ER- but PR+.  Has anyone else had experience of this?  What ongoing treatment did you have.

I will ask the oncologist to clarify when I see her next,  but just wanted to find out what peoples experiences were.

  • Hi

I noticed that you hadn't had any responses to your post yet. This is probably because this is such an active group that posts sometimes slip off the first page before someone with the right experience has seen them. Replying to you will 'bump' your post back to the top of the discussions list.

While you're waiting for replies you could type something like 'ER- PR+' into the group's search bar to see if there have been posts in the past where this combination has been mentioned.

  • Hi Cathym63, I have just seen this thread.

I was diagnosed in December 2020 and initially I was told triple negative. After chemo and at the appointment to discuss surgery, I was told that I was ever so slightly positive for progesterone. I received a letter today which is a copy of a letter sent to my GP and this stated ER0PR5HER2-ve. I am assuming that the PR is 5/8? As you say it does seem to be quite rare to be ER- but PR+.

I had 5 x radiotherapy in October and I'm now on Letrozole for 5 years.

Have you been prescribed any ongoing medication yet?

    Take care x

  • I am HER2 positive and progesterone positive but only slightly 2/8 so I am on herceptin and perjeta soon to be phesgo injections but nothing else has been prescribed. I was taken off all my hrt though as I had a mirena coil which releases progesterone x

    Hi.

I've now finished 33 x radio and have also been put on Letrozole for a minimum of 5 years.

Good to know I'm not alone!

I'm in France and they do it by % here.. so I'm 20% which would be a score of 1.6.. so I'm assuming 2?

    Hi

Yes I've been given Letrozole for 5 years minimum... 10yrs if I can cope.

My score was 20% ... I'm in France and they do things a bit differently.. so that's about 2/8

    Good luck going forward.
