I felt it would be a good idea to have a thread for this which people can use to ask questions, especially about side effects.

  • I've been on Letrozole and had problem with joint pain too.People who have low levels of vitamin D often have joint pain so it's worth to check your level of vit. D3. Mine was very low and taking suplement helps a lot.

  • Yes I think you are right, many people are low in vitamin D without knowing it. I am lucky that I am on prescribed Vitamin D/calcium for my bones and breast surgeon said my vitamin D levels were excellent. I also take Turmeric capsules daily for my joints and apart from a few twinges in my knees since starting on Anastrozole I seem ok. Not all tablets are compatible with turmeric but Anastrozole is ok.

  • I saw my consultant this morning because of a lump near to where the original one is. The scan showed it's a lymph node so she wants to see me again in six weeks. While there I discussed Letrozole with her and she's suggested I stop it for a month and see what happens to the side effects.

  • Just been switched to tamoxifen, my liver didn’t like letrozole.  Mylan brand, scary reading about side effects. Supposed to be better than letrozole for osteoporosis.

  • Hope you get on all right with tamoxifen. The side effects have definitely subsided since I stopped taking the Letrozole so I'll see where I go from here.

  • Everything has side effects, many don't happen. We are still Guinea pigs in a way. I take meds for osteoporosis and have osteoarthritis in my knees. Let you know how I get in with Letrozole. Results on Monday for Oncotype DX. At least it reduces the risk of recurrence of BC. I'm going to step up the exercise when I'm past this treatment stage. Xxx

  • It just goes on and on doesn’t it?  Hope the Tamoxifen suits you. I really hate taking Anestrozole but willpersevere. I just can’t seem to get back to my pre cancer energy levels. I feel my 74 years which is so unusual for me , just feel lethargic. In the great scheme of things I know I am so lucky but just hate any sort of medication.

  • I'm with you on that Evajean. Actually, I was talking to a very close friend who took tamoxifen for five years but the cancer came back and she's being treated for it now! So, I'm not sure if I want to continue with anything!

  • To be honest I would happily ditch the HT but my daughter has pleaded with me to carry on with it as she is so frightened my cancer will come back. I am also not sure whether the Anestrozole has caused my cholesterol levels to rise, a known side effect with some people. So I have been put  on Statins. Onwards and upwards, must not be so negative when so many are having to have much worst treatment than me. I go to a super coffee morning every Tuesday for people affected with cancer. Two of the loveliest ladies there are really seriously ill.One is on a trial drug, the only thing keeping her alive but seems to be working for now. The other lady  knows that she is running out of options too.  However, neither of them ever moans or feels sorry for themselves and we just put the world to rights and have a good  laugh.

  • Hi, Just read this article, which seems to give a compelling reason to stick with the pills.  Interesting to read the difference between tamoxifen and Letrozole and other inhibitors.
