Hi Lindyloo54,  Sending lots of love as I know how worrying this time is!
I was diagnosed the same - grade 1 IDC,  I then had 2 further lumps found on ultrasound and biopsied- both benign , and then a large area found on mri which had to be investigated ( my surgery was even cancelled due to waiting on these results) this also turned out to be benign, thank god!! It was an extremely stressful few weeks but thankful it all turned out ok- so fingers crossed it turns Out the same for you Pray tone1Pray tone1

move since had my lumpectomy, get my results next week xx

    Hi Lindyloo54

Its a worrying time isn't it, I too was diagnosed with Grade 1 IDC back in March. I was told right at the beginning that things were 'busy' in my breast. All you can do is take each day as it comes and deal with diagnosis as and when it comes. My surgery and treatment have been delayed by months because of the first wave of Covid, I'm only now half way through Chemotherapy, with Radiotherapy to follow. You will hopefully get through all the tests, results and treatments quicker than I did.

Write down any questions you might want to ask and research on this website, there are Breast Cancer websites in the UK too. You will be assigned a Breast Care Nurse who will be able to answer any questions you forget to ask and will explain anything you're unsure of.

Good luck with your future results and treatment plan, take offers of help from family and friends. Above all be kind to yourself and take it easy when you need to, sending a virtual hug

    Hi sunshine365,

hope you don’t mind me asking, but you’ve had chemotherapy for grade1 IDC?  I’m so nervous of being told I need chemo - I’ve been told lumpectomy and radiotherapy is the plan but obviously this can change! Xx

Hi sunshine 365, thank you for your reply and sorry to hear that you are behind with your road to recovery.. Covid has so much to answer for! I wish you a speedy recovery. All very scary.. hopefully tomorrow I will be more clued to what the plan is.. but after saying that.. if another biopsy is planned for the second lump found.. then that is a waiting game again for the results!! Either way I have to stay strong for my family and friends. Take care x

  • Hi , just wanted to pop on and wish you well for tomorrow. hopefully the news will be good and you will get a proper plan of your treatment .I would advise you to take a notebook and pen with you to note down the plan - I know from experience that your mind may be inclined to go to mush in this sort of meeting. but my scribbled notes did help me get my treatment sorted out in my head afterwards. My Breast Care Nurse stayed afterwards to go through things with us and further explain the details that I had missed. Hopefully this will be the same for you. I was also given booklets from one of the Breast cancer charities and I contacted Macmillan to speak to one of the nurses the following day who kindly sent me more information too. I hope you manage to get some sleep tonight but if not there are usually people around on the AWAKE thread 24/7 Sending big hugs xx

  • Hi Sf79

I have just been diagnosed with grade 2.  Advised lumpectomy or masectomy, mine did show up faintly on mammogram but cannot feel a lump.  If I choose lumpectomy I will have to have a mri to check breast area, but scared stiff what this will show.  Had my lymph nodes scanned and showed they was healthy.  Any advice pls

    Many thanks

    Sharon x

  • Hello Shaz52. I've recently had a lumpectomy and this decision was recommended by the medical team after looking at the MRI scan results. The MRI will assist in the decision making process so I took the view that it was better to have as much information as possible prior to surgery so that you know what you are dealing with and can consider best treatment options. I can appreciate your concerns about what it might show but perhaps it would help to talk this through with your nurse or consultant? Incidentally, my lymph nodes were scanned and showed no problems but when a biopsy was taken during the surgery it showed there was some cancer there so bear in mind that not everything will show up in scans, sometimes a biopsy is still needed to make sure. Everyone is different though, and treatment plans are subject to change, but I hope that you will be reassured and guided by your medical team as to whether a lumpectomy or mastectomy would be more appropriate based on your specific circumstances. Good luck, hope it all goes well.

  • Hi lalalou

Thank you, can I ask alittle more about your diagnosis pls, and your treatment plan, I am seeing my consultant Tuesday and in my head I just want things moving forward

    Thank you
