I have my 1st oncology appointment tomorrow morning. I found the lump on the 30th sep. The wait in between has seemed eternal.....
Just want to get on with the treatment now.
Stage3, 1node, oestrogen positive, HER2 positive.
Hi Louise
It all feels better once it gets started. Is the appointment tomorrow for your first chemo session? I am HER2 positive oestrogen positive too and had my 6th TCHP chemo session last Friday. First one I was really nervous but all the nursing staff were so friendly and supportive it soon felt like visiting friends. After the 3rd session my lump had shrunk from 37mm to 22mm so everyone was really pleased. That is the last of my TCHP now, I go onto just Herceptin for 11 three weekly sessions and they are just an injection with, hopefully, loads fewer side effects. Op on 4th December then 15 sessions radiotherapy a little while later. My advice is: be kind to yourself, take all the help you can get, try to stay positive - this is eminently beatable.
Good luck xx
Bev
How did you find TCHP - how did you manage SE?
Thank you.

Hello lovely. TCHP was pants, as you would expect. Didn't give my body enough respect during the first round so had to take to my bed for a few days and could only cope with Complan (banana flavo). 12 days in my hair started to fall out. I was expecting that so took control and shaved it all off. Quite liberating really! Every chemo cycle I found that between days 4 and 10 I felt rough.
My mouth was really sore (the mouthwash helps with that) and food and drink didn't taste like it should. I took to eating really bland foods or stuff I had never tried before so I wasn't disappoint
by the taste The diarrhoea was bad during those 6 days but the tablets they gave me helped. Then after day 10 I started to feel better so knew that there was light at the end of the tunnel. Slee
when you want to and eat when you can. I craved carbs so ate loads of them. I would lose weight days 4 to 10 then put it back on the other days in the 21 day cycle. Take care of yourself itiswo
h it. I am feeling fit ad a fiddle with no sign of the cancer returning. Good luck and message anytime you want support
Thanks Bev, thank you so much for your honest account. I need to brace myself for it. Will get complan. Good idea
