ER + PR - HER2- Terrified overthinking everything

I’ve been recently diagnosed with breast cancer.  ER Positive, HER2 neg PR neg.   One confirmed 23mm tumour and 1 (under investigation 10mm) surgery booked for two weeks.  They think lumpectomy but this new lump could change things if it’s cancer too so could be full breast. MRI showed nothing else and so far lymph nodes look ok but I know this could change. But I’m finding myself over thinking wrist pain I’ve had on and off a few years thinking what if it’s somewhere else like my bones.  Driving myself mad.   The waiting is the hardest.   Terrified of chemo the most but they said still on the fence if I will need it.  Early stage 1 but cells moving fast so they said grade 3 for that part and grade three as it’s 23mm. Do I say anything about this?  Will I ever feel myself again.

  • Hi

I am sorry you have been diagnosed with breast cancer. You are going through one of the hardest stages when information is still being gathered and you don’t yet have the full treatment plan. It’s absolutely normal to worry that every ache and pain is linked. They don’t think it’s in your lymph nodes, they are telling you they think it’s early stage. The only way to know for sure that it’s not in your bones is through more scans, but from what you have said, they probably won’t think that is clinically necessary. But please do talk to them about anything that is worrying you. There are of course lots of other reasons for wrist pain. Cancer changes us but you will settle into it. Most people have a good outcome.
