Hello I have felt incredibly inspired reading many posts on here and hence wanted to share where I am. I have just been diagnosed with DCIS stage 0 and I am due to have a lumpectomy on 20th October. It has all come about very quickly after I discovered a small lump. I think what I find hardest is the not knowing and the time - four weeks until surgery and then it’s likely to be three weeks for the pathology. Anyway I’m staying present and just saying hello and best wishes to all.

Welcome to the forum and don't for a minute feel like a fraud. You are not lucky but you are more fortunate that the diagnosis is DCIS stage 0, rather than a cancer, stage 1/+ diagnosis. You are fortunate in as much that it has been caught before it's turned into cancer. However, the treatment you are having is the same as a cancer diagnosis, so it's not something that you can think is easy.
Cancer / DCIS doesn't go wild straight away, so don't worry about the timescales. The waiting is always the worst bit and the thought of the operation, but the thought does often tend to be worse than the 'actual'.
Good luck with your lumpectomy - do all the exercises recommended to ensure the best recovery.
