i I’m new here I’ve been diagnosed with IDC and ILC in left breast I had 3cm tumour removed with clear lymph node .. 3 weeks ago the consultant requested oncotype score and I’m still waiting result my head is working over time I also have small lump in right breast which I will get appointment but they suspect it’s benign.. when I see oncologist I’m wondering if I should request going down chemo route to make sure all cancer is gone .. is that something stupid and I’m just over thinking..

I am sorry you are facing this. If the oncotype score comes back showing low risk of recurrence and they don’t offer chemo to you, it’s because the risks of the chemo outweigh the benefits. Sometimes the result is in a middle ground where it is really your choice, and in other cases chemo is recommended. Everything they do is evidence based, so if they say it’s not in your best interests to have it, you would be unlikely to be able to make a justification for it.
It’s horribly difficult living with the uncertainty of this but the oncotype result will guide them. It might be they recommend other drugs instead of chemo - I think you just need to take it one day at a time and let them be the experts.
