Welcome to the forum, I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on this forum.  I'm sorry to hear that it looks like you have breast cancer.  He's highly unlikely to use that term working towards a cure if it wasn't cancer, but until the results of your biopsy comes back, it's not a hundred percent a given that's it's cancer.  However if he is right and it is breast cancer it will be very treatable.

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer nearly six years ago, my tumour was 2 cm and after having chemo, surgery and radiotherapy I made a full recovery.

I am sorry you are feeling lost but you are definitely not being silly. It’s stressful and a lot to take in. The staff in the clinics are extremely skilled in knowing what they are looking at and have scales against which they record their suspicion. My experience was they were clear about suspected cancer, rather than talking around it and leaving me to join the dots. It sounds a bit like they have left you to join the dots. I don’t think they would have used the language they have used unless they had a high degree of confidence they were looking at cancer. The biopsy will tell them the grade, and also what receptors the lump has. Breast cancer can have receptors for any, all, or none of oestrogen, progesterone and human growth hormone (HER2). These things, together with the size of lump and whether they are concerned or not about lymph nodes, determine your treatment plan. As the doctor said, in most cases with a small lump, treatment will be with curative intent. Wishing you all the best.

Hi i had the simular, went to hospital appointment, had mammogram, scans & biopsies, then was told mass was 4cm by 4cm and next step is operation and then either radiotherapy or chemo without the results being confirmed as cancer, i think they just know, but its hard to hear that without biopsy results, my family kept saying "they dont know that wait for results, probably a fatty lump" but it wasnt.  Im now booked in for my magtrace next week and then an operation the week after.  Wont know what treatment i will be having until they have results back.  I was in shock and wanted to ask loads of questions but nothing came out of my mouth.  When you go back for results take someone with you as you wont remember or take in everything they say as its a lot of emotions.

Also any questions you have write them down now so you have them with you on the day, advice i was given.

Dont be afraid to be angry, cry, scream, shout or just be silent we all go through different emotions i did, something on the TV would set me off, sometimes you just need to take time for yourself and try and process it the best way you can which is not easy.
