I was diagnosed with IDC, oestrogen and progesterone + HER2 low. I have had surgery which included 2 nodes being removed. The nodes looked fine on ultrasound however needed to be tested. I have my follow up appointment a week today.
It has all moved very quickly, from being told I was in theatre within 6 days. The plan, hopefully depending on pathology, is for radiotherapy.
Im feeling very detached from it all, it is like it is happening to someone else. I am feeling quite anxious about the appointment and am trying not to think about it.

Waiting for results is really stressful. When I went for my post-surgery results, it was an absolute eye opener on how many people were on the same path. I had been told it was a ‘busy clinic’ but that didn’t prepare me for the sheer volume of people. Waiting room full, people out in the corridors waiting. Appointments running in around 18 or 20 offices. It felt just like a production line. Quick presentation of facts and out the door, wait for letter with oncology appointment. A short appointment with not much to say is good news but I expected a bit more of a human face to it. Realistically they were processing a whole week’s worth of surgery cases in one afternoon appointment. Hope yours goes well.
